Revolutions International Theatre Festival, now with stops in Santa Fe

Hey everyone... I feel a little sorry that I haven't posted much about theater here of late, but Tricklock Theatre Company's Revolutions International Theater Festival has been drawing great crowds here in Albuquerque, and will be making a few more stops this year in Santa Fe.

Tricklock is one of the groups really making the case for how our local arts scene can help build our film business, with the talents of Kate Schroeder behind and in front of the camera (soon to be seen in Swing Vote), and Chad Brummett (3:10 to Yuma, Spirit), and Tricklock's overall mission includes bringing groups from around the world to NM and vice versa.

Here are a couple of the Santa Fe shows (I saw Elephants last night -- very fun and inventive), but there more info available about all the shows, ticketss, etc., at:  http://www.tricklock.com

About Nile Seguin

Nile Séguin joins the FSCAS fresh from the tour of his solo show Fear of a Brown Planet. Having been praised by critics for his "...razor-sharp wit... perceptive, confrontational and...unabashedly gutsy comedy... " (The Hour Magazine, Montreal) Séguin's work explores his response to the overly simplified racial categories that are grossly prominent in the entertainment industry.

"...Seguin has laughing audiences in the palm of his hand...has a comic ease with an audience...delivers more laughs and entertainment than most comedy clubs." - Eye Magazine

"...razor-sharp wit...perceptive, confrontational and...unabashedly gutsy... one of the best comedic sets you will see in Montreal or anywhere." - The Hour Magazine (Montréal)

About John Fugelsang

Whether on stage or in front of the camera, John Fugelsang's intelligent humor and versatility have earned him critical acclaim and audience recognition across multiple entertainment mediums. Credits include CSI:Crime Scene Investigation, co-hosting America's Funniest Home Videos, and appearing on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher more than 20 times. His stand-up has been seen in festivals including Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival and HBO's US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. His one man show Junk Male earned him rave reviews and a variety of awards, including "New York Monologist of the Year" at Lincoln Center from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, as well as "Comedian of the Year" from Backstage.

Teatr Figur of Krakow, Poland makes its US debut with two different shows featured in this year's Revolutions Festival. Using puppetry, shadow theatre, object manipulation, and physical performance, this ensemble of actors, jugglers and social artists bring to life the story of two men from different worlds finding a way to connect in The Smell of Elephants after the Rain. Based on the Italo Calvino novel "Invisible Cities," the play follows young traveler Marco Polo and venerable leader Kublai Khan as they abandon words and turn to music, puppetry, and poetic physical illustration to establish and understand their differences, similarities, and the indelible ties that bind all mankind.
