NMFO Black History Month Events, Academy Awards Benefit, Digital Arts Conference... and much more


I was worried that the Digital Arts Conference was this weekend -- but there's still a little time to sign up (it's March 7th with a special showcase from Friends of Film, Video and Arts on Friday, March 6th). NM Women in Film will present their International Women's Day Film showcase the next day -- more info on both below.

This weekend, join the NM Film Office in honoring Black History Month with
a weekend of films, lecture and music in honor of Black History Month. Please join us in celebrating the contributions of creative work by and about African Americans at these special events on the weekend of February 20th and 21st. Screenings will be open to the public with no cost for admission.

NM Women in Film, March 8th
*NMWIF & WIFTI INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY FILM SHOWCASE – MARCH 8TH :*

NMWIF will participate again this year in the annual WIFTI (Women in Film &
Television International) Short Film Showcase to celebrate International
Women's Day on March 8th. This year's event will be held in Santa Fe and
will include a slate of international films from women worldwide. This is a
benefit for NMWIF and WIFTI. Proceeds go to support the mentoring, training
and education of women in the film and television industry in the U.S. and
internationally.

Mark your calendar for Sunday, March 8th in Santa Fe – Time & Location to
follow in separate email blast!

*Call for Submissions – Attention NM Women Filmmakers:* NMWIF will select
one or two short films by New Mexico women, to be shown as part of the
program. The filmmaker(s) selected will be asked to speak about their film
at the March 8th event. If you have a short film, including animated films,
that you would like to submit, please send a DVD copy, along with a
synopsis, a list of the credits and contact information to: NMWIF, PO Box
33351, Santa Fe, NM 87594. Films must be produced and/or directed by a
woman who is a NM resident. All DVD's will be returned at the end of
judging*. **Deadline for submission is February 25th.* For questions,
