For those of you interested in open source software... the upcoming NM GNU/LinuxFest is really exciting. Check out the links for more info (and help out if you can):
Hello from the New Mexico GNU/LinuxFest Staff,
The New Mexico GNU/LinuxFest is moving forward and we just wanted to send an update email of some of the things that are going on.
We continue to sign up new sponsors, the latest are Linux Journal http://www.linuxjournal.com/ , and
the New Mexico GNU & Linux User Group http://nmglug.org/ . Very happy to have both these great organizations come on board. The Linux Journal will be supply some goodies in the event bags can't wait to see what they come up with. Be sure and find the NMGLUG booth in the expo hall during the fest.
The speaker list is growing too http://www.newmexicognulinuxfest.org/?q=node/12 and we have some top notch presentations lined up http://www.newmexicognulinuxfest.org/?q=node/13 . We only have 6 openings left for presentations so if you have a great presentation that you feel needs to be seen go here
and get your presentation to us http://www.newmexicognulinuxfest.org/?q=node/14 you have till September 30th.
We will be putting out a call for volunteers in the next couple of weeks, as you know this is an all volunteer conference and without your help we will not get much done. Some of the needs we will be having are:
Session Chairs – These people will make sure the presentations run smooth
Vendor Coordination – Helping to make the expo hall run smooth
Keynote Coordination - Making sure the keynote speakers are taking care of
Venue committee – People coordinating with the venue staff to make sure all is well
Public relations – Helping with ads, working with broadcast media
Program Guide – Putting together the program guide and making sure it gets published
So as you can see lots going on, and much more to come.
Can't wait to see you at the fest,
New Mexico GNU/LinuxFest Staff
