NM Filmmakers Program – THIS WEEK:
LAST CALL FOR ANIMATION SUBMISSIONS – MAY 6th
The 2011 NM Filmmakers Showcase is conducting a last call for animations to be included in our May 2011 Showcase. Although animation submissions have always been accepted and one was submitted, our entry form did not list it as a category and therefore we are conducting a final call. If you have an animation film to submit, please see attached entry form, write in ‘animation’ as your category and send your application packet to the Guild Cinema by Friday, May 6th. It’s free to enter a film and free to attend any and all screenings. Contact (505) 476-5611 with any questions and see the full Showcase details on www.nmfilm.com. Our schedule of 2011 Showcase films will be released this week. Join us for our opening night kickoff reception! May 19th at 6:00pm, sponsored by Laru Ni Hati Café Cubano in Nob Hill.

This seven-minute documentary in-progress by New Visions winner Federico Reade examines the Chicano civil rights movement as it unfolded in 1969. “After many of New Mexico’s youth returned from the first National Chicano Youth Conference in Colorado, they were inspired to change inequities perceived in society, along with legions of other Chicano youth across the country. They went on to find themselves at the vanguard of an awakened consciousness both locally and nationally, that would ultimately transform a nation.” Hosted by Federico Reade and Richard Moore with special guests: Joaquin Lujan, Santiago Maestas, Father Luis Jaramillo, Marvin Garcia, Richard Sawtelle, Lucia Baca Lucero, all members of the Black Beret Organization.
